What is the most unique situation you have come across with a client or real estate transaction?
Well, I assisted one of my clients with the purchase of a home that had to be according to Feng Shui principals, not only with regards to the overall flow of its floor plan but also as it applied to its parking location. It was challenging, but the most extraordinary circumstance about this purchase was learning about the family’s custom of sacrificing a chicken in the home which had to occur right before the buyers permitted themselves to move in!
If you weren’t a Real Estate Consultant, what would you be?
I consider myself a cultural adventurist and have been fortunate to have traveled to 15% of the world (according to Travbuddy,com)! I would be either a restaurant food critique or a sommelier!
What’s something that most clients don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that the real estate business is my second career. Before this, I worked as a director of international marketing for several high-tech companies and for the World Trade Center Association, headquartered in New York, (here I go mentioning travel again). Since I was involved with global marketing, international sales and business development, I traveled a great deal both domestically and abroad. The tragic September 11th attacks revolutionized my organization, completely transforming it. As a result, I took a good look at my transferrable skills, my interest in real estate combined with management experience, entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help people. I thought why can’t I go into business for myself since I’ve always helped others grow their own companies? And there the idea was born to work as a consultant to individuals and help them with their real estate needs.
Do you prefer the Angels or the Dodgers?...
I’m still disturbed by the Anaheim Angels having to change their name! I like both teams. But, I’m partial to the San Diego Padres (and their new stadium) especially after going to the University of San Diego. Actually, I like soccer and look forward to watching the World Cup every 4 years in addition to the Olympic games. They are very inspiring to watch!
What type of music do you like?
It depends on the mood and situation. Sometimes classical or jazz music suits me. But, I generally like anything you can dance to. And yes, that includes Disco!
If you had any initial advice to new or prospective clients, what would you tell them?
Be prepared by seriously taking a look at your financial position. Most people want to jump into the housing market without considering their income, debt situation, or comfort level with a specific monthly mortgage payment. I work closely with clients to assess their specific needs and requirements to help them make a determination on the best purchase price, location, condition of home and monthly payment to get them into the right house.
What else would you like others unfamiliar to you know about you?
In addition to devoting myself to my family, I enjoy giving back to the community and dedicate myself to various philanthropic organizations like The Arthritis Foundation, Soroptomist International, and belong to SlowFood USA.
